Job Title: On-Air News & Community Affairs Director
Description: JOB DESCRIPTION SummitMedia Greenville is currently looking for a full-time On-Air News & Community Affairs Director to join our already successful radio properties (WJMZ /107.3 JAMZ). We are seeking a positive, independent individual with a passion for community involvement and civic achievement in the upstate. The ideal candidate must be able to generate excellent content to distribute on-air, online, and station social media. Candidate will be expected to have knowledge of important news related topics for our listeners and must be available for station appearances as needed. ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES The On-Air News & Community Affairs Director: • Oversees writing and delivering the news to our listeners daily • Host 4-5 hour on-air show. • Handle all logistics as well as hosting our weekly issues program • Weekend swing • Production • Manage station social media • Handle show-specific web duties • Work on-site appearances
Requirements: JOB QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS Minimum of 2 year urban radio experience is required. This is not an entry level position. Candidate must have an ideal mix of personality and skills specific to the broadcast industry. Experience with Adobe Audition and basic business software/hardware (ie, Microsoft Word) are requirements. Familiarity with Maestro studio equipment or similar is required. Must have confidence and temperament to meet and interact daily with listeners and clients on the phone and at public events. Must work well with other on-air talent, listeners, promotions teams and sales staff. Requirements: The candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day production of our morning newscasts. This position will also work closely with the News Director, Assistant News Director and Content Center on the newscast and its content.
